The count Giulio Venini (1837-1917) belonged to a noble family of Lombardy. Following Italy’s unification, he became the chairman of the first Society of Phones and of Ferrovie del Nord. His strong passion for art eventually brought him to cover the role of secretary of the Famiglia Artistica in Milan. The present sculpture was exhibited at the Famiglia Artistica in December 1894. Along with the present bust, Troubetzkoy also exhibited a Bust of a Woman (Inv T n. 308)
