From the official documents of the Archives of the City of Verbania (Comune di Pallanza, envelope 705) it appears that no competition for the Monumento ai Caduti di pallanza had been announced officially. However, the 4th November 1922 Paul Troubetzkoy shows the Monumento ai Caduti, on the basis of a plaster study identified with n. 167.  The monument was unveiled officially on 21st October 1923.
